It's been years in the making but the new shed alongside the original Tenterfield Men's Shed off Wood Street received a fine house-warming when it was officially opened by MP Thomas George on Monday, February 25. While he stumped up the money for the celebrations from his own pocket, Mr George said the $30,000 grant played a relatively small part in the overall scheme of things, considering huge input from the community transformed that into a $100,000 value.
'Water theft' from the Murray Darling Basin is a topical issue but locally Tenterfield Men's Shed members are reeling from the audacity of thieves who have stolen the group's water storage capability. Three 1000-litre rainwater tanks stored between the new shed and the Dharnbarran Community Garden next door (a Work for the Dole project run by Best Employment) were due to be plumbed in last Wednesday, but had disappeared. The captured water was to be shared between the two entities.
